Campos still on course without cap

New Formula 1 team boss Adrian Campos says the loss of the budget cap as part of the resolution of the FIA versus FOTA row should not be a problem for his project - although he admitted that he was keen to see the final 2010 rules as soon as possible.

Like fellow newcomers US F1 and Manor, former GP2 team boss and sometime F1 racer Campos was attracted to having a shot at the top level by the plans for a £40 million spending limit.

This was ditched when the FIA agreed to follow FOTA's cost cutting proposals in the agreement that averted a breakaway championship.

But FOTA insists that its own measures will still make F1 affordable for new teams, which the manufacturers have pledged to assist.

Campos said it was good news for his team that F1's future had been secured and he was keen to be part of the united series - as long as the 2010 rules are still suitable when they are finally signed off.

"The important thing is that everyone agrees everything," Campos told Autosport.

"I think in the future we will be in a good situation, but the important thing for me is that we now have some rules."

He said he had remained calm during the FIA/FOTA conflict, and hoped that the newcomers would be allowed to join the existing teams in shaping a healthy, competitive and affordable future for F1.

"I think there is always a big commotion in F1 every seven years or so, and this is one of those times," said Campos.

"Now there is an open door to finding a solution, and as a new team it is important for us to help in this."
