Lewis gets diamond helmet for Monaco

Lewis Hamilton has received the diamond-encrusted helmet that he will sport for the Monaco Grand Prix, courtesy of McLaren sponsor Steinmetz.

The diamond company traditionally creates special helmets for McLaren's drivers in Monte Carlo every year.

Its 2008 designs feature the Steinmetz logo shaped in diamonds on each side of the helmet, and the drivers' respective signatures formed in diamonds on the helmets' tops.

"I really like what Steinmetz has done this year and am looking forward to the Monaco Grand Prix weekend," said Hamilton.

"As some people might know I am very particular about my helmet but it looks great and will add some extra sparkle to the event."

Hamilton received his diamond helmet in a photoshoot in the McLaren factory this week, while team-mate Heikki Kovalainen will be presented with his in Monaco.

"I’m always really excited about the Monaco Grand Prix - it really is the one that all drivers want to win," said Kovalainen.

"To be able to race at this prestigious event with Steinmetz diamonds on my helmet will bring something special to the occasion."
