Rubens still fired-up to take second

Rubens Barrichello says he is still hugely determined to secure second place in the world championship in today's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix even though he lost the title to Brawn team-mate Jenson Button in Brazil.

Sebastian Vettel has a two point advantage over Barrichello in the fight for runner-up honours, and has qualified two places ahead of the Brazilian in second.

Barrichello said he had made sure his crew were still fired-up despite the year's big prize having already been won, and that second in the standings remained very important to him.

"I've been pumping people up just to remind them that there is another race to go and we've won both championships but if it didn't matter we shouldn't have come here," he said.

"I fight for anything - I fight to win go-kart races, I fight to win at bowling.

"It is amazing that we are here and we are still fighting.

"It doesn't have the same taste as first place, but it is a fight, it's a challenge."

The two Red Bulls are carrying slightly more fuel than the Brawns behind them, and Barrichello admitted that his car had not been as quick as his rival's yesterday - but hopes that will change in race conditions.

"I've been behind Jenson in terms of setting up the car for the whole time, and I got a little bit happier with the heavier car," he said.

"Unfortunately the performance is not as we expected compared to McLaren and Red Bull.

"Most definitely, I think the track could come to us.

"The car is not fantastic to drive, but I don't think it's fantastic for anyone - it's a difficult track and you run low downforce for the straights but have plenty of corners.

"I think the night could come to us, I think that's where my set-up is.

"But the McLaren is too far away with Lewis [Hamilton]."

Barrichello added that he had got over the disappointment of Brazil very quickly as he knew he had done his best in the title decider.

"I gave it hell in Sao Paolo, I gave everything I had and unfortunately we didn't have the performance," he said.

"The best I could have hoped for was second place - when I came out of the pits I was in the middle of the melee and I lost time to [Robert] Kubica when he overtook me.

"At least I went home with my head up, knowing that I really gave everything.

"So it is a disappointment on the theoretical side, but I knew I gave it everything, so it was not a problem to pump me up to win the race coming here."
